Now that we own an RV
You may be asking yourself,
Who goes RVing in January?
WE DO!
I mean seriously,
HAVE WE MET?
you shouldn't be surprised by us by now.
That's the smile of a man who has waited about eight years to buy the perfect RV.
And thanks to a good friend who works at a dealership,
we found THE PERFECT SKIFTON RV!
A table for lots of games!
Even late into the night.

Bunkbeds for the teeny girls!
A fridge to satisfy those teenage hunger pangs
And then everyone can eat and watch Spongebob at the same time!
(which you can technically do at home also, but not going 70 miles per hour!)
ok technically we aren't driving here, but THE POSSIBILITIES!

FIRST RULE of the RV:
"Dad is always watching!"
More riff raff from the streets!
Obviously the first place we wanted to go was to LAS VEGAS
to see Aunt Lisa and Aunt Anji!
Grant and Russell needed to break in the upper sleeping bunk!
It's hard to take a picture of them not moving.
Ithaca welcomed us in with lots of kisses.
And Lisa won us over with delicious food and cooking lessons.
She gave me a 100 year old sourdough starter!
And then she shattered my understanding of how to make it.
I'm a consistent sourdough baker now.
NO MORE FLAT DENSE LOAVES!
(at least three times in a row)
Thank you Lisa!
We spent a charming evening with our great friends the Holley's
as he is being called as a MISSION PRESIDENT!
Here he kindly helps Cora make her grilled pizza.
(see, more delicious food)
I failed to get a picture, but Cora was completely smitten with Uncle Heath.
She needed to be sitting by him at all times.
Playing toys with him,
and showing him everything in her backpack.
And it broke her heart when he shut the backdoor not knowing she was still outside.
And when we brought her in crying,
she slowly pointed to Heath and said, "HIM!"
She quickly forgave him and they are still best friends.
RULE #3 of the RV:
Always stock your freezer with Reed's Dairy ice cream before you leave Idaho.
Because you have a freezer, and you can.
Parker was thrilled to actually be somewhere warm enough
to try out his new skateboard that he got for Christmas.
(that was a mouthful,
why can't I ever just say
"Parker skateboarding"
in my captions?)
RULE #4 in the RV:
Go home any direction you choose!
No more tracking pit stops, bathroom breaks, fast food joints...
We drove straight up through the wasteland of Nevada to get home.
Because we could.
Cathedral of Slots!
(see--that was a nice, concise, to-the-point caption.)
It was a labyrinth of narrow tall rock paths.
Nobody got lost though...
We didn't find any bones or anything either.
Britta did find a used chapstick.
Grosser than a dead body.
And some hippie beads
(which Parker insisted on keeping)
There are some legends about these natural mazes...
They say at the very peaks you can find the wisest being of all creation.
Can you spot her?
She will grant you all the answers you seek,
if you bring offerings of Mac n' Cheese.
Another legend is if you dare venture deep enough to the very end of your twisted path,
you will be rewarded with your greatest heart's desire!
IT CAME TRUE!
I'm a believer!

Ok maybe I made those up,
but let's just go with it and see if we can spread something new around!
One thing I know to be true,
this was an AMAZING sight to see!
And we still had cell service!
Win--win!

Mitchell's exact words about these slots were,
"If I had to choose between this and playing the Nintendo Switch,
I would choose this EVERY TIME!"
Do you need any more proof how life changing they can be?
Richard came here as a kid and his Dad left a business card in a pole at this picnic area.
It wasn't there.
Speaking of the WONDERS OF NATURE...
our trip home took us right past
TESS & TY'S house so we could see...

That's awesome! It looks like a great trip! Also, I've heard that New Mexico is a great place for RV trips ;)
