Mitchell's 10th Birthday!
OH MY!
Mitchell is TEN!
Double digits!
Only one more year until he gets his Hogwarts letter!
(fingers crossed)
Here's his friends at his Harry Potter party.
Cousins and friends from all over.
Mitchell is loved immediately by all who meet him!
His friends are very loyal,
and keep in touch even with switching schools.
They weren't told it was a Harry Potter theme,
and one wore a Harry Potter shirt, another socks,
several bought him Harry Potter toys, lego, etc...
It's like they are all the same mind!
And Mom and Dad bought him a BB Gun!
Go shoot your eye out, kid!
We had loads of Harry Potter themed games to play!
Reassembling the Marauder's Map!
(Did I see Harry here?)
WHOA!
I'm so glad he could come!
We took his friends out for dinner at PIZZA PIE CAFE!
The second best pizza buffet I've ever been to.
They have COOKIE MONSTERS!
some people call it a Pizzookie
(I took a stab at the spelling of that)
And that was Mitchell's choice of birthday cake!
Isn't he so happy?
On Sunday Morning
(his actual birthday)
Richard made some handsome fried eggs!
Oh no, you caught me being adorable!
We then went to church and came home to more
CAKE!
He asked me for a cookie cake as well!
He's a real cookie monster!
Life changing discovery!
Richard and I treated ourselves to a piece of cake
at the Fred Meyer bakery while the kids were at school.
We were pleasantly surprised that they filled the cake layers
with COOKIE DOUGH
instead of frosting.
I've been making cake horribly wrong my whole life.
So this year, for Mitchell,
we are righting YEARS of cake wrongs.
Cookie dough layers,
not frosting.
You're welcome.
OH MY!
You're suppose to blow the candle OUT!
Not ignite them more!
Not ignite them more!
What are you breathing out, propane?
Giving the old BB gun a try!
It's actually really fun!
We'll see if the neighbor's cat sneaks over here again!
HAHAHAHA!
(come on, seriously, I would never do that.)
Mitchell might, but not me.
This wasn't on his birthday, but
Mitchell has invested his own money into ski equipment!
We went with the youth group to Kelly Canyon,
and he gave it a good try!
I didn't know how to help him
(Texans can't do everything, you know.)
But luckily, the awesome youth leaders had great advice for him!
They helped him make his way down the bunny hill
several times!
These girls found a small hill to slide down!
And what are the chances for Mitchell to pass up on something this FUN!?
Great things that you ought to know about Mitchell:
Mitchell is in 4th grade
going on high school.
He is in the gifted and talented program.
But he is so advanced, that they have started him on
9th grade homework levels
to keep him interested in learning.
And he is very interested in learning.
His teacher has sent me many videos of Mitchell from school.
She is so impressed that no only is he one of the smartest kids in the class,
but he is also the most popular.
He has impeccable social skills.
She sent a video of Mitchell walking up to the front of the class...
She didn't know why or what he was going to do...
he proceeded to start break dancing!
Right in front of everyone.
She said she turned on music
and then all the students started joining in!
The caption to the video read,
"Your son started an impromptu dance party today."
I didn't know he was that popular,
or that he could break dance!
Now, I know...
Remember Thanksgiving?
His teacher also sent a video of Mitchell
when he came back into class from his gifted and talented program,
the whole class erupted into cheering:
"MITCHELL'S BACK!"
So needless to say,
school is very good for his self esteem.
Besides his smarts and dance skills,
Mitchell is just a great brother.
He makes us all laugh with his jokes,
and he is very very very very very
very patient with his sisters.
He knows how to talk them out of their fits,
and will soon have them laughing instead!
He is everyone's favorite sibling to play with.
It helps being in the middle,
where he is mature enough to have fun
with Parker and Colette,
but he's still childish enough to have a blast
with Cora and Britta as well!
He's also clever enough to play games on Dad-level
(so are Parker and Colette)
so that has increased our family time quite a bit.
He, of course, would not be ten-years-old
without loving video games.
This is the area where he gets uber competitive.
There has been more than one occasion that has lead to
locking himself into his room,
and diva level crying...
sorry Mitchell, but you have to have a flaw.
With your adorable freckles,
cool shaggy hair,
contagious smile,
I'll handle an occasional tizzy fit,
and an apparently fragile bone structure.
(sorry to bring that up)
Happy tenth Birthday Mitchell!
#3 club forever!
