You're the only Ten-I-see
We are heading across the country again.
Heading across the US of A!
From Idaho to Tennessee.
We stopped along the way and saw many things.
FIRST STOP:
Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, MO.
The first ride in ANY theme park
is always the CAROUSEL!
is always the CAROUSEL!
Triple crown!
Which horse is the fastest?
Looks like Cora is in the lead!
Dad's perspective confirms it:
she wins by a nose!
she wins by a nose!
Next we'll take a drive the old timey way...
Nice of Parker to let his little brother take the wheel!
Must be the realization that he can take driver's ed soon.
Next stop:
the TRAIN STATION!
(is this theme park nothing but
archaic forms of transportation that we find amusing?)
GIANT INNERTUBES!
(is that old timey?)
I don't recall many stories of old west innertubes...
Unless--Huckleberry Finn?
Log Ride!
The humidity was KILLING us!
We enjoyed every possible drop of cool water we could find.
Like the misters in the shade....
AHHHHhhhhhh!
That's a little closer to the real deal...
Can you name all the characters?
(see answers at the end of this post.)
...and more...
...and more rides...
I think Colette is losing it!
She'll be coming round the corner when she comes...
Every kid, every time around this corner lost control of their arms,
and they just flailed them.
It was hilarious.
LUNCH BREAK!
This is what $80 of Panda Express looks like.
This is what $20 of nachos look like!
SCORE!
Best deal of the trip!
Best deal of the trip!
We had split up to find what everyone wanted for lunch...
We sat at Panda and watched a complete employee meltdown...
the girl dishing us up started stomping around,
screaming, and throwing a complete tantrum.
They were out of all foods but Beef and Broccoli.
She finally dished it up for us and then plopped it on the counter.
It was a wild experience.
Then Richard strolls up with his
GINORMOUS birthday cake box of $20 nachos.
Probably 19 people stopped and asked us where to get them.
And they were way better than tantrum Chinese food,
that we could get in Idaho Falls.
So if you ever go to Worlds of Fun,
GET THE NACHOS!
You're welcome.
Then top it off with a little Dippin' Dots.
Now we are making some new friends at the petting zoo.
Colette pondering life with a new kind of pet...
...and fondly remembering old ones from the past.
These guys weren't so baaaaaad.
(well, what would you have said.)
What a cute kid!
(It was just there, I had to say it.)
AND THEN,
FINALLY,
WE FOUND HIM!
THE ONE--
THE ONLY--
SNOOPY!
Cora gave him an uncomfortably long hug!
Cora gave him an uncomfortably long hug!
"He was just so soft," she said.
Mitchell dabbed in respect.
THE GANG!
When we saw the characters were outside,
I was so excited, I bolted over there leaving the stroller
to slowly roll away down a slanted sidewalk.
Richard had to run and catch it as another father
laughed because he felt his pain!
But, come on, it's CHARLIE BROWN!
Lucy,
my personal favorite.
gives amazing psychological advice,
lover of classical piano,
teller of bold truths,
and wise above her years...
we have a lot in common!
We did it all!
We saw the world.
And it was fun.
Our day in 90 seconds.
Now, let's get these kids back on the road.
Answers:
Peppermint Patty/Sir, Sally Brown, Charlie Brown/blockhead, Linus and Lucy.
*The title of this post is a reference to a joke of Richard's.
Ask him, and he'll tell you.
"You're the only ten I see."
