Sterling S.

What's that?

You've never heard of Sterling S.?

Well that's ok,
I hadn't heard of him either,
'cause he's kinda new...

Here's how the night started.

*ALARM*

It is now 2:30AM MDT.
This is what we call, "Nighttime."

The C-section was scheduled for 6:30AM.
This means mom and dad needed to be at the hospital at 3:30AM.

It's cold.
We leave the house with everyone still sleeping soundly.
Upon arriving at the hospital, they see us to our surgery prep room.

Mom looks gorgeous.

Dad looks like a surgeon.

They made me a little bed in case I wanted to go back to sleep.
We're too excited.
Can't you tell.

We started to head into the operation room.
The anesthesiologists is having trouble with his station's computer.
There's an IT from the hospital in there in full surgeon garb.
His beard is sticking out from behind his mask.
You can tell he is very uncomfortable,
even from under his mask,
that there is a soon-to-be momma about to get undressed in front of him.
The nurse whispers to Ashley to hold off a sec,
while the IT guy gets his things and leaves.
After an epidural and a textbook surgery,
Sterling S. is here.

He was born at 7:10AM MDT at 7lbs 10oz. and 21 inches long.

At this point,
I quickly ran home and got the other kids to come and see before school starts.

"Ok that's enough, I'm mad!"

"Just teasing.
I just know zippy zap about those people.
I'm only 1 hour old at this point."

I'm pretty emotional,
because Sterling is finally here.

Here are some close ups:
(Warning: I'm bashful)

Something we noticed,
(and everyone else)
was that his fingers and toes are very long.
Everyone kept saying, "He's going to be a piano player."
With his fingers, not his toes, of course.

Speaking of music,
Here he is rockin' out to some tunes
(aka, tones and beeps stimulating his frontal lobe).
PASS!

After two nights and three days,
it's time to go home.

Here's a peace sign for scale...

Finally, home!

We are so happy Sterling is here.

He was promised to us by God for some time now.

It's quite a sweet story,

and we are elated God has blessed us with him.

You should ask Ashley about it someday.

Things to remember about Sterling this day:

1) He looks just like Cora at this same time that she was born.

(Here's a quick sneak peek. both pictures are Cora)

(ok, Cora, that's enough, back to Sterling)

2) He likes to huff out of his nose instead of cry

3) He loves to be held

4) He has lots of siblings to hold him

5) It snowed so hard that day. Like, "can't see 10-ft in front of the car," kind of snow.

6) The hospital gave "free," and delicious, food three times a day to both mom and dad.

7) And in case you were concerned,

at all,

the older kids got to school right on time

while the younger kids were about 1 hour late.
