Three cheers for birthday parties!

Yesterday we went to a birthday party
for a sweet friend that we knew back in our old apartment days.
Paisley is turning 8!
We were so excited to be invited (rhyme alert!)
It was easy to drive an hour to go to the party.

It was a swimming party.
Usually we can't keep Britta out of the water,
but being a two-year-old in a world of giant eight-year-olds
was a bit too intimidating, even for her.

So she spent the day running across the yard to the snack table,
grabbing one pretzel at a time,
and then coming back to Daddy's lap to eat it.

I think she burnt more calories than she ate.
Not a bad diet plan.

Colette was there, of course, slipping and sliding...

Parker couldn't resist a chance to show off his new shark tooth necklace.
Apparently that's his new thing.
Thanks #dudeperfectbeachstereotypes
(all of us who succumbed to the Hawaiian shirt craze in the 90's shouldn't judge)

Britta was much happier when she found an indoor trampoline.
But with 40 other kids there, it was a really test of "sharing"

When the trampoline and water slide had been spent,
it seems our weekend is never complete without painting ourselves.

Beautiful mermaid!
She actually sprayed painted their faces over a stencil.
I'd never seen it done that way
and as a face painting connoisseur,
it was very enlightening.

Batman? No, dragon? DragonMan?
Is that a thing?

Parker picked the basketball player.
The cutest part was that the lady asked what Parker's favorite basketball team was.
We looked at each other in panic trying to think of one basketball team name.
um...
.
.
.
.
.
Neither one of us could come up with one!!!
Not a single basketball team came to mind.
So she raised her eyebrows and said, "Oooook. Let's just do yellow!"
hahaha.
I told her sports really isn't our family's forte.

But all that is about to change.
Parker starts a basketball camp on Monday.
Gives you some pretty funny pictures to look forward to.

And just in time, Grandpa Gary sent Colette my old cheerleading pom-poms!

She asked if she could sign up for Cheerleading...
